By train + bus (Wuzhen → Hangzhou)

A taxi or DiDi from Wuzhen to Hangzhou costs about ¥200–300.
Wuzhen has excellent accommodations inside Xizha. Staying overnight to see the lantern-lit canals is one of the best experiences in the Yangtze River Delta.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Looking for a "Wuzhen Station." The high-speed railway station is Tongxiang (桐乡), not Wuzhen. You must transfer to a bus or taxi for the last 27 km.
Forgetting the K350 transfer. K282 takes you to Wuzhen Bus Station, not directly to Xizha. You need Bus K350 or a taxi for the final leg.
Underestimating the K282 bus time. The bus covers 30 km with many local stops and can take up to 60 minutes. This is not an express shuttle.
Choosing the wrong Hangzhou bus station. Jiubao Coach Center has the most frequent buses but is far from West Lake. If you are staying near the lake, the Wulin Square direct bus to Xizha is much more convenient.
Missing the last bus back. If you are doing a day trip, check the last K282 and last return bus when you arrive. Wuzhen Xizha is open until 22:00, but public transport back to Hangzhou ends earlier.
Only visiting Xizha and skipping Dongzha. Xizha is stunning but heavily restored. Dongzha has more authentic local life. A combined ticket costs ¥190 and is good value if you have a full day.
