⚠️ Chinese New Year and National Day (Oct 1–7) bring heavy domestic tourism. The Panda Base can reach capacity — book tickets well in advance.
Dujiangyan is about 60 km northwest of Chengdu and is incredibly easy to reach by high-speed intercity train. Trains (C/S-series) depart frequently from Chengdu and Xipu stations, arriving at Dujiangyan Station in just 30–40 minutes. From there, a local bus or short taxi ride takes you to the scenic area entrance.

- Didi is widely available and affordable. Use via WeChat or Alipay.
- Taxis are cheap (starting at ¥8) but traffic can be heavy during rush hours.
- For Dujiangyan, take the high-speed train from Chengdu (about 30 minutes) or a long-distance bus.
- For Leshan, high-speed trains depart frequently (about 1 hour). The Giant Buddha is accessible by boat or on foot.
3–5 days is ideal. 3 days covers the Panda Base, city highlights, and Dujiangyan. Add a 4th day for a Leshan Giant Buddha day trip. A 5th day lets you explore the trendy Taikoo Li district, Sichuan Museum, or take a Sichuan opera show.
